Don’t Be A Quitter

Well it is official. We have another walker in the house. Ellis, who just turned 10 months old, finally figured it out and is walking around.

This video is from a few days ago when she was first getting the hang of it.  She has gotten way better over the last few days:

Ellis Taking Steps

It is amazing how much you can learn from kids and watching them learn how to do new things. Hopefully walking is no big deal for you, but when you first learn it, there is a lot of unfamiliar movement.

Just like trying anything new for the first time, you probably didn’t get it just right at first. How many times have you tried a diet, it didn’t work, you gave up, then heard about another diet, tried that, failed, and just accepted the “fact” that you can’t lose weight. It must be your genetics right?

I know it sounds cliche but it is only failing if you stop trying. Ellis has “failed” trying to walk for the past month or so. Can you imagine trying to do something everyday, but failing for an entire month. Then one day it just happens. Something clicks and you figure it out. You keep at it and all of a sudden it is just the new way you do something.

Remember when you are trying to lose weight or get in better shape, there will be road blocks and obstacles. Things will slow you down and it will get hard. Most people take the easy way out and just give up and chalk it up to their genetics or something else out of their control.

At one point in your life you were so determined to so something you tried it every single day until you were successful. There will be good days and bad but you will keep at it until you get there.

If you have let a goal go, start back at it today. Accept the fact that it will be hard, you will mess up, but you won’t fail.
